If you’re someone who prefers a mineral sunscreen but haven't yet found a formula you actually like, Ultra Violette might have just answered your prayers.
The sunscreen-making pros have just launched an Australian-made mineral sunscreen that actually feels good on the skin.
With a hydrating formula that glides on like silk, absorbs almost instantly and—most impressively—leaves zero white cast, even on deeper skin tones (it actually blew me away when I first tried it on my darker skin tone).
But honestly, would we expect anything less from the the purveyors of excellent sunscreens?
Ultra Violette, you truly never miss when it comes to creating some of the best sunscreens in Australia.
How is a mineral sunscreen able to be non-greasy and lightweight?
Ultra Violette has formulated their newest sunscreen drop with a “special” kind of zinc…
Keep scrolling to find out everything you need to know about the new Ultra Violette mineral sunscreen - Future Fluid.
But first...

What’s the Difference Between a Mineral and Chemical Sunscreen Again?

What are the disadvantages of mineral sunscreen?
Often a lot of formulas leave a chalky residue and don't feel great on the skin or feel drying.
What is mineral sunscreen? Is mineral sunscreen actually better?
In a nutshell, while chemical sunscreens will absorb UV rays like a sponge, mineral sunscreens reflect the sun’s rays thanks to their main active ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which create a barrier on the skin that reflects that UV light.
The downside is they often have a thicker consistency, so can sit on the skin with more of a chalky, heavy feeling.
Which sunscreen is better, mineral or chemical?
For a complete breakdown of the differences between physical and chemical sunscreens, check out more of an in-depth guide here.
But honestly, it just comes down to personal preference.
Both protect you from the sun! (along with protective clothing and shade of course - sunscreen is just ONE part of sun safety).
Mineral sunscreens aren't always the most popular, but thanks to new innovations and formulas like Future Fluid, icky mineral sunscreens are a thing of the past.

What is the Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral SKINSCREEN™?

  • A silky, invisible zinc sunscreen with a natural, skin-perfecting finish.
  • This Australian mineral sunscreen delivers lightweight, non-greasy UVA + UVB protection.
  • Key ingredients that make it a hydrating and moisturising formula - squalane, vitamin E, and Pentavitin.
  • Also powered by hydrating Japanese zinc - the most advanced mineral UV filter that’s lightweight, non-greasy, and super gentle on skin.
  • Ultra Violette Future Sunscreen also soothes, hydrates and supports your skin barrier.
  • What skin type is Ultra Violette Future Fluid good for? Perfect for our normal, oily, combo and sensitive skins. As Ultra Violette puts it, it’s for “everyone who’s been let down by thick, chalky zinc SPFs in the past.”
  • Is also Australian-made, fragrance-free, cruelty-free and vegan.

If I’m being completely honest, I’ve always been a chemical sunscreen girl. The silky texture, the way it melts into my olive skin etc. etc.
But then Ultra Violette visited Adore Beauty HQ to give us a rundown on all things Future Fluid and the moment I tried it, I was actually shocked at how it instantly absorbed like a dream, left zero chalkiness, and gave me that dewy, luminous base I love before makeup application.
Consider me officially converted. I think this is honestly the best mineral sunscreen I’ve tried to date.
Also, I had never heard of Japanese zinc before, but let me tell you—it’s doing the most to make this zinc-based SPF not icky on the skin.
The hydrating feel was also very noticeable and I love any product that includes squalane and vitamin E, to have that in my SPF? Amazing.
While it does disperse like a tinted sunscreen it doesn't actually leave a tint (not that I would mind a tinted moisturiser finish anyway).
See how beautifully it applies and absorbs into my skin in the video below:
After applying my foundation there was no pilling either.
The only bone I have to pick is the price.
But if I think about how no other mineral sunscreen I've tried feels this hydrating on the skin or doesn't leave a white, chalky residue, then it's worth it.

"If you’re someone who doesn’t like wearing sunscreen at all, Ultra Violette’s New Future Fluid has a consistency that might just be a smidge thicker than water.
Makeup glides over it seamlessly, no pilling or patches and if worn alone, its claims are true, feels like second skin."

Gerard, Head of Retail Marketing.

"Since receiving my own Future Fluid, I have found myself constantly reaching for it.
Having previously been a fiend for the Ultra Violette Lean Screen which also has a tint quality. This is a lighter weight version that feels incredibly weightless on the skin. It absorbs quickly and leaves no offensive shine."

What’s the Difference Between Lean Screen and Future Fluid? (Both Mineral Sunscreens).

"But Sadaf, Ultra Violette already have a mineral sunscreen, what's the difference?" I hear you say.
I'll let Co-Founder of Ultra Violette Ava Mattews do the talking here:

Final Verdict...

Besides its ultra-hydrating formula, what truly impressed me was how effortlessly this sunscreen melted into my deeper olive skin—no white cast, no ashy finish, just a luminous glow.
If you have dry skin and have struggled to find a mineral SPF that feels nourishing rather than chalky, this might just change everything.
I think I'll go as far as to say Ultra Violette's Future Fluid is one of the best mineral sunscreens in Australia that I've tried!
