L’Occitane’s Almond Range Is What Your Body Care Routine Is Missing. Trust Me.

In partnership with L’Occitane.
Before we even get into this article, I feel it’s my duty to ensure we’re all pronouncing L’Occitane correctly, so that when you’re telling your friends about this amazing shower oil I convinced you to buy, you don’t call it Locky-Tane.
Say it with me: L-Ox-E-Tahn.
Great, now that’s out of the way, let’s level up your body care routine.
Body care isn’t new to L’Occitane, they’ve been in this game since 1976, and it comes as no surprise to me that one unit of Almond Shower Oil sells every 7 seconds worldwide.
As a beauty expert, I am embarrassed to admit that I didn’t try their cult favourite shower oil for the first time til early last year.
I’d heard everyone sing its praises, especially around the Adore Beauty office, so when I took the plunge and bought it, I had high expectations.

Does a Shower Oil Replace Your Body Wash?

The L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil 250ml transforms into a milky texture when you add water and massage it into your skin.
I use this product as my body wash (I even take it travelling because I hate showering without it), you can also add it to your bath and the intoxicating almond-vanilla fragrance will envelop the whole bathroom.
Would you believe I currently have four bottles of this stuff at home?
  • Ideal for normal to dry skins, and those who get flaky and scaly in the winter.
  • Makes a great base for shaving your body and prepping for fake tan.
  • Rich in sweet almond oil, grape seed oil and other nourishing lipids.

Why Stop at a Shower Oil?

After I developed quite the obsession with L’Occitane’s Almond Shower Oil, I was convinced I had to try more from the same range, which is when the L'Occitane Almond Firming Milk Concentrate 200ml entered the chat.
With the texture of whipped butter and the signature almond-vanilla scent, I knew almost as soon as I dipped my finger into the jar that I’d be repurchasing it.
My only wish is that it came in a 500ml pump bottle because I go through this product like it’s going out of fashion.
  • It’s packed with almond milk, sweet almond oil and glycerin.
  • It has a lightweight, velvety texture that doesn’t feel too rich but doesn’t disappear on application either.
  • Leaves the skin feeling ultra-nourished, hydrated and soft.

If You Want to Take it a Step Further…

The most recent product I’ve tried from this range is the L'Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil 100mL and I can vouch for the product name being highly accurate.
Funnily enough, the thing that excited me most about the product when I first used it was the packaging.
It comes in a glass bottle with a spray nozzle, so it’s completely mess-free (basically unheard of with body oil) and you can spritz it straight onto your skin.
I use it underneath the Milk Concentrate, but you could definitely use it on its own to moisturise your body.
Of course, it contains sweet almond oil, which is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E.
For an oil, it has quite a light texture that absorbs well into the skin for a non-greasy finish.
It rejuvenates dull, dry skin, leaving a luxurious rich scent behind.

Do We Really Need to Moisturise Our Bodies?

Even ancient civilisations used natural oils and animal fats on their skin to keep it hydrated and protected, so the answer is yes, we do need to moisturise our bodies (if we want to keep our skin moisturised, soft and supple, that is).
According to Google Trends, searches for the terms ‘body moisturiser’ and ‘shower oil’ have steadily and rapidly increased since 2015, with no signs of slowing down.
It was inevitable that our obsession with skincare would flow onto body care, and rightly so.
Why should our faces get all the love while our scaly, flaky bodies scream out for moisture?
Using hydrating and moisturising ingredients on our bodies reduces transepidermal water loss, promoting smoother, softer, healthier-looking skin and helping you avoid flaking, scaliness and dullness.
So if you’re ready to elevate your body care routine, L’Occitane’s Almond range is a good place to start.
