I aspire to be the friend who is always on a trip or busy planning her next one.
Whether it’s driving down the coast with some friends for a long weekend, or jetting off to London to see my Mum, I’m the poster child for girl-mathing your way to another holiday.
Life is for living, right?
Now I do realise I’m writing this for the very workplace I take annual leave from, but I promise I’m doing this for a good reason.
I am very good at packing up my skincare and haircare routines for travel (I can confirm that this fact has been peer-reviewed as my friends agree with me).
So I’m here today to share some of that wisdom with you all.
And I don’t have any annual leave left, thank you for asking.
Best Skincare Products for Travel.
I often find that when I travel, my skin gets reactive (love that for me!). This requires me to go back to basics with my routine, using products I know my skin loves.
So what are my skin non-negotiables when travelling? Read on to find out!
1. Micellar Water.

One of the keys when it comes to travelling is to make sure the things you bring can be used a few different ways - and this is where the ever-iconic Bioderma Micellar Water comes in.
This can be used to do a myriad of things - I mainly use it as a first cleanse of the day, or while I’m on a plane to refresh my skin.
I swear by always carrying micellar water when you travel as it also means you can cleanse your skin away from the sink - so you don’t have to worry about hogging the bathroom while you’re getting ready in the morning.
2. Everyone’s Fave Makeup Remover.

If you haven’t heard of Face Halo, I’m honoured to be the one to change your life.
These mighty reusable pads are all you need to remove dirt, grime, makeup and SPF from your face at the end of a busy day.
No separate oil cleanser, no balm - this and some water is all you need which makes it perfect for travel.
3. A Calming, Multi-Tasking Serum.

Whenever I leave AEDT, my skin gets angry.
It’s something about the plane air, the transit, or even just the stress, but my skin will always break out, without fail.
So, wherever I travel, I need to bring along something that is going to calm and hydrate my skin. And this is where the Viviology serum comes in.
Created by the effervescent skin icon
James Vivian, this serum contains both niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and protect the skin.
I love this serum so much that I actually took it on the plane with me to reapply. Going a night without it? I think not.
4. SPF.

We all know that
sunscreen is non-negotiable every day, and I’m here to remind you that that doesn’t go away when you go on holiday.
Aussie SPFs are generally considered some of the best due to our strict TGA restrictions - so grab one before you jet off to protect your gorgeous skin.
And don’t forget to reapply! I took
AB LAB Dewy-C (an Adore office fave) on my most recent trip and it kept up with the Italian sun.
**Important note: Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing and seek shade. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming, towelling and perspiring in accordance with directions.
Hair Products for Travel.
I truly believe in the power of
a good hair day - so you can bet that all of my fave hair products come on the journey with me.
5. Shampoo and Conditioner That Pull Their Weight.

It is no secret to the Adore office that I am obsessed with the
Metal Detox range (I may or may not excitedly screech about it to whoever is willing to listen).
I’ve used it since late 2021 and haven’t looked back - I’ve genuinely gone through bottles and bottles of the stuff.
It’s what I tell my friends to try, I've also gotten my mum on the Metal Detox train, and as a result of all of this love, it’s also what I bring with me when I travel.
This range is designed to revive and restore colour hair that lacks shine - and as a girl who has gone from brunette to blonde (and then back again a few times), I need the love that Metal Detox provides.
Travelling has also enlightened me to the terms ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ water and
the effects it has on your hair (it’s a fun TikTok deep dive to go on) - so it’s extra important to keep up the good habits to ensure you keep your hair as healthy as possible, especially if you’re spending money on dyeing your hair like I do.
Bonus points for other minis like the gorgeous new serum minis by Kérastase.
I love a scalp serum, particularly the
Kerastase Genesis Fortifying Anti Hair-Fall Serum 30ml so a mini format is perfect to squeeze into your travel hair routine.
6. A Mask That Makes a Difference.

I am very partial to a slick back bun and not just for run club or pilates.
One of the biggest hacks I’ve incorporated into my routine is to apply a hair mask once a week to the ends of my hair before twirling it up into the signature Hailey Bieber bun.
This especially helps when travelling as you’re often out running around, exploring a new place and putting your hair through its paces in a climate it’s not used to with the aforementioned hard water.
Final Thoughts.
Now that we’ve covered my own skin and hair non-negotiables, my kit wouldn't be complete without mentioning one makeup product that’s been on my list to try: the jam-packed
MAKE UP FOR EVER HD SKIN ALL-IN-ONE PALETTE - Shade H1This product is designed to help unify, conceal, correct and sculpt skin all from one palette. And if the buzz around the office is anything to go by, it’s what I should be adding to cart immediately.
I’m still working on my ability to reduce the amount of makeup I pack in my travel makeup bag (I currently have three foundations on rotation) and this product would take care of at least four steps in my makeup routine. Talk about a time saver!
So with all of that said, Europe Summer 2024 anyone?
I’m thinking Greece, and maybe even Spain or France…
