One underrated skincare product I regret not packing on my Euro trip? A face mist.
Picture this: my first day in Rome, I decide to take a “little stroll” before hotel check-in. Of course, I had already slathered on sunscreen but the heatwave was no match for my SPF.
By the time I was dragging myself up the hill back to my hotel, I felt like my face was on actual FIRE.
I snapped a selfie and realised my reflection was looking a lot less “glowy traveller” and very much “ripe tomato”.
I WISH I had a cooling, soothing face mist in my bag to spritz every five minutes. It would have honestly been a game-changer, or at the very least, offered some sort of instant reprieve.
So if you ask me, “are face mists worth it?” I would say - ab-sol-ute-ly.
Here's the thing, face mists aren’t the floofy, scented water sprays of the past.
Today’s formulas are loaded with hydrating, calming, and nourishing ingredients (think hyaluronic acid, botanicals, nourishing antioxidants) that actually do something for your skin.
Whether you’re braving European heatwaves, refreshing makeup mid-afternoon, or saving your skin from office heating, face mists are the handy, underrated skincare product that your tired, dry or RED skin didn't know it needed.
Below, I’ve rounded up 7 hydrating face mists worth spritzing on repeat!
1. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Spray, $34.95

What: A soothing, touch-free panthenol spray that immediately calms irritated or damaged skin while accelerating skin repair.
One of the most iconic and best moisturisers under $100 now comes in an ultra-convenient face mist spray!
The La Roche-Posay cicaplast spray is designed for sensitive, stressed, or post-procedure skin.
Delivering instant relief, restoring hydration, and helps keep your complexion feeling comfortable.
If your skin ever feels irritated, compromised, or just in need of some TLC, this little blue-and-white bottle is about to become a skincare shelf essential for you!
2. Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray, $55

What: The Clinique face spray is artificial fragrance-free, suitable for all skin types and has a bunch of nourishing, soothing AND re-energising ingredients like barbadensis leaf water, centella asiatica, caffeine, chamomile and vitamin E.
Speaking of iconic moisturisers that now come in spritz form, you can add this one to the list too.
Yes that’s right one of the best selling Clinique products and best moisturisers for dry skin also comes in a hydrating mist version so all the loyal moisture surge fans can now give themselves and extra dose of their fave product throughout the day!
Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray review:
"This facial mist is so much more than a refreshing spray. I use it between skincare steps and sometimes even over makeup. It keeps my skin feeling comfortable all day and adds a soft glow without making me greasy." - AB customer Jasmine.
3. Dr Lewinn's Hydrating Ceramide Mist, $49.99

What: A refreshing travel friendly face mist powered to support the skin barrier on the go.
During a recent Google Meet with my colleague and Adore Beauty’s beauty editor Fran, I instantly noticed how ridiculously dewy and juicy her skin looked.
Seconds later, she casually pulled out a mist, spritzed, and kept talking like it was nothing.
“Wait, is THAT what’s making your skin look like that?” I blurted.
“Yes, gorg. It’s this face mist!”
Mind you, it’s still winter. Which just proves these little bottles aren’t just a summer-in-Italy accessory.
Says Fran, "Letting you in on a little secret, the Dr. LeWinn’s mist pictured above is completely empty. Nary a half-spritz left - trust me, I’ve tried.
Despite it being a generous 100ml product, two weeks of road testing for a BIQ review (read it here) and I’ve emptied it completely. Another secret; it’s very rare for a beauty editor to finish her products, so take this as a testament to how much I truly love this formula (and spritzing it!).
What’s so special about this formula, exactly? It’s brimming with skincare. Ceramides, Hyalauronic Acid, Tripeptide-8 and Provitamin B5 work to moisturise, calm and strengthen the skin barrier.
Unlike other skincare-packed mists that often leave a greasy film atop of skin, this beauty feels ultra-light and hydrating to wear. No film or buildup.
I wouldn't say it's the finest mist on the market but the spritz feels lightweight and very refreshing. I like to keep one on my desk for mid-day (read: hourly) topups - it totally rejuvenates skin and adds that extra level of hydration."
Some bad news friends : turns out, Fran and her juicy face aren’t the only fans of this moisturising mist. Within a day of writing this article, it has now sold out (for now), but you can sign up to be notified when it’s back or, just check back in soon (when you do your next Adore Beauty order!)
4. Dermalogica UltraCalming Mist, $72

What: A cosmeceutical face mist that’s packed with active, skin-boosting ingredients designed to soothe, relieve, and nourish while you spray.
For those who want some high performance from their face mist, Dermalogica delivers a formula that works as both a refreshing spritz and serious skincare.
Dermalogica UltraCalming Mist review:
"I have semi-sensitive skin and I use three different mists each day: Dermalogica's multi-active toner, Dermalogica's ultra-calming mist and Dermalogica's hyaluronic ceramide mist. I particularly use the ultra-calming mist after showering and at any other time when my skin is feeling sensitive. It helps to settle mild itchiness and prepare the skin for whichever serum and moisturiser I'm going to use. I use it on both my face and neck. I highly recommend it for people having issues with sensitivity." - AB customer Suzzane.
