Open up any beauty editor's handbag, and I’ll bet you good money you’ll likely find a Dermal Therapy lip balm inside of it. Maybe even in a few different shades alongside the popular OG.
Not a trade secret, but a long-loved less-than-$7 lip balm keeping the dry lips of beauty lovers, skinfluencers and editors happy for years.
Me? I won’t travel on a long-haul flight without one...
One of the best, affordable Australian made brands (everything is under $30!!), you can now shop the Dermal Therapy range on Adore Beauty!
To add to their resume - many of their best-selling products have even won awards and been reviewed and endorsed by healthcare professionals, so you know it’s the good stuff.
From the cult Dermal Therapy lip balm to the Dermal Therapy heel balm, their no-frills-but-gets-the-job-done products are sure to be staples in your bathroom.
If you’ve ever found yourself late-night Googling: “what is the best lip balm in Australia?” chances are the Dermal Therapy Lip Balm will pop up again and again. And if your next search is “is dermal therapy lip balm good?” you’ll quickly stumble across a bunch of glowing reviews that confirm what beauty lovers already know: this stuff is gewd.
Personally, I don't travel without one and always have one on my desk to reapply throughout the day.
At night or on a long-haul flight, I love to apply a layer of this criminally cheap lip balm then layer an application of my Laneige lip sleeping mask on top for the ultimate pout nourishment.
A deadly hydrating combo (in the best way possible).
Why you need it:
For less than $7 you’re getting a lip balm that’s been clinically proven to relieve dry, chapped lips.
Its not-so-humble brag is that it’s Australia’s no. 1 selling lip balm in pharmacies (if that’s not saying everything)
Its concentrated blend of emollients and 2.5% urea (a powerhouse ingredient for dry, cracked skin) work hard to help exfoliate flaky skin, hydrate, protect and repair as well as form a protective barrier to lock in moisture.
This affordable lip balm gained such a cult status that Skinfluencer Roj Torabi convinced the brand (with her help) to launch the DT lip balm in a range of tinted shades!
THANK YOU ROJ for giving the people what they want!
I was lucky though to attend the launch of the new tinted lip balms, and let me tell you, every shade is universal enough for all skin tones, but my top pick?
Cherry red - the perfect subtle flush of red on the pout.
Dermal Therapy Lip Balm Original reviews:
“I don’t normally do product reviews and only do it for products that I believe in and use everyday in the clinic. But I was given the Dermal Therapy Lip Balm and it’s something I now use everyday. I use it for longer treatments because my patients lips dry out and has been highly recommended. All of my patients are loving it! Bonus: all my photos are looking top because of the shine it gives you on your lips.” - Dr Patrick, Dentist (*from the Dermal Therapy website)
"Forever recommending this lip balm to my clients. Fun thing re. petrolatum is that it = one of the most effective occlusive ingredients! Which is v. helpful for dry lips. Urea can also = mildly exfoliating but also works as a fab natural moisturising factor in the skin to help it hold onto water/keep everything plump. Throw in a little lanolin for extra moisture/ hydration and voila it’s such an effective lip balm for dry lips.” - Yads - Dermal Clinician | Nutritionist (BHSc, MSc, ANutr) (*from the Dermal Therapy website)
The Dermal Therapy hand balm also happens to be one of the cheapest (and effective) hand creams in Australia.
This $7 little salve has been giving my dry and ashy hands instant relief all week. I've been applying it non-stop throughout the day and love it.
It feels light, non-greasy while still imparting a nourishing and luxe feel. It's now a desk staple for me right next to my lip balm.
Dry creepy hands who?
Why you need it:
If you’re looking for the best hand creams for really dry hands, this Dermal Therapy hand balm contains 10% urea and 2% Dimethicone to not only moisturise but also protect hands.
Fun fact: it’s also clinically tested on nurses AND! AND! it has been a consecutive winner at the Best in Beauty Awards three years in a row. Huge flex.
Dermal Therapy Hand Balm review:
“My favourite Dermal Therapy product is definitely the hand balm. Especially when working in the healthcare field. Always washing your hands l, hand sanitising with the alcohol based rub, it really dries out the skin. So being able to use this one after every shift has really helped. ” - Hong - Nurse (*from the Dermal Therapy website)
Don’t get me wrong, a luxe, cosmeceutical cream infused with active ingredients is always worth the splurge. But right now, I'm relying on my bougie serum to do most of the hard work for my skin, so having a reliable, budget-friendly everyday moisturiser that just gets the job done to seal in all the serum goodness feels just as useful for me.
It's a fast-acting, lightweight night cream that hydrates, firms, and restores skin while you sleep.
This one feels moisturising without being greasy and I found I didn’t even have to apply that much for my whole face to feel cocooned.
It also has a very light almost grape-like scent that’s not too overpowering and I quite enjoyed it.
Not sure how moisturiser can feel thick and lightweight at the same time but this is what the texture of the dermal therapy overnight repair face cream feels like.
If you've been personally victimised by dry, cracked feet (raises hands) I feel you.
This is a cheap as chips, high-performing heel balm we need to add to cart friends, and I'm even more influenced now that it has the tick of approval from an actual podiatrist:
“As a podiatrist I have trialed many heel balms, but this one is a real stand out. The skin on your feet is the toughest on your body, which is why finding the right heel balm is so important. It soaks in nicely to your skin to help hydrate and soften that tough skin on your heels. Highly recommend!” - Claire, Podiatrist (*from the Dermal Therapy website)
Why is it so good?
This clinically tested heel balm contains 30% urea for faster, more intense relief of dry, cracked heels.
It’s also enriched with nine emollients and amino acids to mimic the skin’s natural moisturising factors (NMF).
It’s been clinically proven to increase skin hydration by over 67% in one week, and it’s also podiatrist-recommended and suitable.
