We've all been through it, haven't we? Trying to conceal a big, red, angry pimple before a date, or an important meeting, or just because you don't want it looking at you in the mirror.
Yet despite concealers having ONE job, which is to CONCEAL (sense the frustrated tone), you're usually left with a cakey-looking spot, with redness still peeking through. But not anymore, my friends. If you've never heard of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout, your day's about to get a whole lot better.
What Is Bye Bye Breakout?
Ok, so it's a concealer. Wait, no it's a drying lotion. Hang on... is it skincare or makeup? The answer is: both. This full coverage concealer can be used to effectively and fully disguise breakouts, while actually treating the breakout with pimple-fighting skincare ingredients.
Designed for oily and acne-prone skin types, Bye Bye Breakout can be worn alone to conceal spots, or over/under makeup to complete a flawless finish. The formula won't crack or crease, and layers seamlessly over blemishes, making them undetectable. It comes in 7 shades ranging from fair to deep, and has been developed with the help of plastic surgeons.
What's In It?
You might be wondering how a concealer could possibly improve your breakouts. I mean, makeup usually makes you more congested, doesn't it?! Well, this product has been made with the skin in mind - using ingredients traditionally known for their blemish-fighting properties, suspended in full-coverage pigments.
The drying lotion formula found within the concealer contains ingredients like kaolin clay, zinc oxide, witch hazel, tea tree, and an AHA/BHA complex - a blend of which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, helps to refine skin texture and offers gentle exfoliation, while drying out blemishes. This formula also contains anti-ageing peptides and hydrolyzed collagen.
As someone who's a big believer in supporting our skin's barrier, I don't personally recommend using this product on areas unaffected by breakouts - localise your application directly on blemishes and even out your coverage with your regular foundation.
I also would only recommend Bye Bye Breakout to those with oily and combination, acne-prone skin, as it may be too drying on already very dry skin types - and you definitely need to avoid this product if you're on medication for your acne (like Roaccutane).
How To Apply It:
As I mentioned above, you can wear this concealer alone (without foundation) to correct the appearance of blemishes, blending out the edges for a seamless finish. It also gives you a flawless finish when paired with your usual foundation.
Taking a skincare-first approach, I recommend applying the product directly to any breakouts you wish to conceal, before you apply your foundation and after your skin prep including primer.
If you require any additional coverage after you've applied your foundation on top, add more product to the area with your concealer brush until you've achieved your desired coverage.
