Maybelline Firework Mascara Review: Promising Big Volume and Show Stopping Lashes

Ferrari - happen to craft some of the most elite sports cars, Arnott's - make the best biscuits GLOBALLY, (Ok that might be more bias that fact so please don’t come after me snack aficionados), and Maybelline?
Well in my humble opinion and I'm sure a lot of people would agree, make some of the best, cheap, high-performing mascaras.
Over the last year, I’ve been fortunate enough to try a few high-end mascaras, and they're lovely - beautiful formulas and luxe packaging.
But no matter how impressive they are, I always find myself going back to two tried-and-true favourites—both (unsurprisingly) from Maybelline.
The two best cheap mascaras my zero-curl lashes can’t live without? Ok "live without" was a bit dramatic, but if you saw me without mascara you’d understand.
The first is my much-loved original Lash Sensational mascara which I've been loyal to for years thanks to the natural-looking, fanned-out curl it delivers every. time.
The second? Maybelline New York The Falsies Surreal Extensions Mascara which delivers on ALL mascara fronts: density, volume and length.
Usually, you only get one or two of these features from a mascara if you’re lucky.
So to me, the Maybelline Surreal Extentions mascaras (yes even the Meta Black one) definitely sit in the 'SUPERIOR' mascara tier category.
In fact, I’m going to go as far as crowning Maybelline with the “best cheap mascara brand” title - because they never fail to deliver on affordability or performance.
Now, Maybelline have just released their newest mascara, so as you can imagine this #1 Maybelline mascara fan was ready to take it for a test drive.

First Impressions of the Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Firework Washable Mascara.

On first impressions, the unique wand is what struck me first. I have never seen or experienced anything like it.
She's like a bendy little gymnast!
If you want a wand that moves naturally and flexibly with whatever lash texture or length you have - this will do just that.
The true test of a good mascara for me though is if it still delivers any results (curl, volume, density, length) without me using an eyelash curler first.
As I've mentioned in a previous BIQ article where I road-tested 5 of the 'Best Mascaras for Straight Lashes' I never apply mascara without curling my lashes beforehand.
So how did this one do sans curler?
After one coat, I didn't see much of a result and my lashes still looked kind of underwhelming, so I did feel a little disheartened.
Then, after applying a few more coats and building the density - HELLO.
Drama-city!

Final Verdict...
While it won’t be knockin my beloved original Lash Sensational and Falsies Surreal Extensions mascaras off their top spot perches for daily use, on occasions that require extra drama, this is the one I'll be grabbin!
