Amy Clark is Adore Beauty's former Senior Editor and co-host of Skincare School the podcast (and self-appointed beauty road-tester!). Amy's worked as a journalist, beauty editor and podcaster for several years, previously writing and talking about all things beauty at Mamamia and You Beauty. When she's not writing honest, no BS product reviews and taking selfies 'for work', you'll find Amy eating halloumi in a hair towel turban and... taking more selfies.
As a beauty editor, part of my job involves putting buzzy new products on my face to find out which ones are worth your time and money.
I also take a lot of selfies. And sit hunched in front of my computer in a way that would make physios - and our HR team - shiver uncontrollably.
But getting to road-test and review new beauty launches is the most Instagram-worthy (and fun!) part of the gig.
So, it's only fair I share what's in mine, and this month, I'm obsessed with flawless, gloriously glowy makeup products.
From a 'luminous silk' powder (yep, *that* luminous silk) to the lip product getting me heaps of compliments, here are seven new-ish makeup buys you'll find in my next Adore staff order.
You can watch the video recap here, or keep scrolling for all the details.
1. Eye of Horus Triple C Concealer.
What: Eye Of Horus Triple C Concealer- The natural, nourishing concealer enriched with vitamin C that's been all over my Instagram feed.
Why I'm adding to cart:
If you've seen this 'vitamin C concealer' on Instagram and wondered whether it's worth the hype, it is!
It's the epitome of a natural-looking concealer that just looks like skin. With a smooth, creamy texture and satin finish, you can use this concealer under the eyes and to cover blemishes and redness. Plus, it's vegan, cruelty-free and made from 99.6% naturally-derived ingredients if that's important to you.
The product also comes in eight shades with an even spread of colours and skin undertones. As for whether it has improved the appearance of my dark circles over time with the addition of three forms of antioxidant vitamin C - too soon to say. But it couldn't hurt, yeah?
What: Napoleon Perdis The One Concealer- A lightweight yet super high coverage concealer that's now available in more inclusive shades.
Why I'm adding to cart:
I know what you're thinking. Why is this fool adding two concealers to her staff order? Valid question, here's my answer... this really is The One if dark circles are your main concern.
I've previously written about how much I love the Bobbi Brown Corrector, but holy moly, this product does the same thing, but with even more coverage. It's thick and very high coverage, but not heavy, cakey or drying. And it somehow manages to completely conceal and drastically brighten the appearance of dark circles, while still looking flawless.
It's also very easy to apply - a tiny bit blended under and around the eye using your finger or a small buffing brush will do the trick.
If you haven't heard of Luminous Silk, it's the cult foundation that leaves your skin looking like, well, a smooth piece of silk. Now, the range includes a luxurious, silky powder.
As the name suggests, this is a glowy skin powder to finish your makeup rather than set it (but it semi does that, too). The finely-milled pressed powder formula comes in 10 shades and is designed to be worn over foundation or on its own. It'll give skin a luminous, slightly blurred finish with a tiny bit of coverage.
I like it dusted over the top of my foundation with a big fluffy brush, or a bit on my cheekbones, brow bones and down the bridge of the nose as a subtle, natural-looking highlighter. Plus, it comes with a handy refill pan so you can hold onto the stunning packaging. Win!
Meet the newest launch from the brand that brought you the iconic IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC cream. It's a setting spray, but not as you know them.
The reason this product gets a run in an article about glowy makeup is because the hyaluronic acid mist formula legit keeps your makeup looking like you just applied it. It still controls shine for a soft, diffused finish, but I love how it makes my foundation look like my skin, only plumper.
Spritz at the end of makeup application, or throughout the day whenever you feel like your face is eating your foundation. FYI this product does have a pretty strong tropical scent (that's the aloe vera and coconut water).
Not to toot my own horn, but I've lost count of how many compliments I've received on this particular shade of cream eyeshadow.
It's the same long-wearing, unstuffupable cream formula that made the original MAC Paint Pot a cult product, but in a new shade I think everyone can pull off.
The shade Babe in Charms is a peach wash of colour with subtle reflective rose gold flecks throughout. It might look like a lot in the pot, but I swear, it's very wearable. I wear it on its own or layered on top of other eyeshadows.
Lip glosses aren't my thing, maybe because I can still feel the hair that got stuck to my lips in 2005... that said, everything about this Anastasia Beverly Hills lip gloss feel premium.
It's exactly what you want from an excellent everyday lip gloss. Shiny, but not sparkly or glittery. Thick enough to make your lips feel hydrated, but not too sticky or gluey. And it doesn't taste like the subtle peach scent, which is a small but important detail.
Apply on its own to enhance your natural lip colour. Or if you have corpse-coloured lips like mine, pop some over the top of your favourite lip liner or lip colour.
I talk (and eat) far too much to usually bother with high-maintenance lipsticks. Moisturising lipstick/balm hybrids are my thing, and this new one from Bobbi Brown is up there with the best I've tried.
It comes in six shades - Candy Apple gives me a shiny, glossy fire engine red look that's not sticky or too shimmery. It's so comfy to wear, easy to apply without a mirror and makes me look like I've put effort into my appearance when I definitely haven't.
Oh, and the luxe pop-out packaging is really fun. Just don't accidentally shove the lipstick bullet into the wrong end like I may or may not have done...
