What You Need To Know About The DIOR Solar Collection You've Been Seeing All Over Tiktok

I have a confession to make, and as someone that’s been in the beauty industry now for six years, it’s not something I’m proud of.
I am…a tanning novice.
It’s shocking, I know but I’m going to partially blame (thank!) my skin’s slightly olive undertone and my upbringing in always-sunny Indonesia during those critical teenage years when my peers seemingly mastered the at-home tanning.
There’s just something about the notorious tanning scent, the certain inability to reach my back, the horror stories of turning orange and how a streaky application would simply haunt my type-A personality.
So you can imagine my initial reaction to trialling a tanning range...
But a) I love all things DIOR and b) I, much like many others, had seen all the buzz on TikTok and decided I needed to know for myself.
So here I am! Let’s find out what all the hype’s about on the DIOR self tanner and more from the DIOR Solar collection.
What Is The Dior Solar Collection.
Famous for their iconic fragrances and makeup, DIOR is probably not the brand you think of when it comes to tanning products.
But that’s about to change with their Solar Collection which is made up of four stunning products: a self-tanning gel for your face and one for your body, a glow-giving oil and an after-sun balm.
A gorgeous quartet, all packaged with accents of bronze (appropriate) and white.

1. DIOR Solar Body Self Tanning Gel.
The newest launch of the collection, the DIOR Solar Body Self Tanning Gel rounds out the range perfectly – offering a 150ml variant to ensure your body appears as sun-kissed as the rest of you (without the sun of course!)
Mirroring the lightweight gel texture of the Solar Self-Tanning Gel 50ml, this product is my new go-to for a streak-free, rinse-free all over glow that feels just that little bit luxe.
2. DIOR Solar Self-Tanning Gel.
At $89 for 50mls, there’s no denying that this is an investment to achieve that natural glow, but for a tan novice such as myself, this product is worth its weight in gold - or bronze.
This face tan product applies easily, the same way you would a serum or a moisturiser and sits evenly on the skin post-application.
I applied one layer, to achieve a light, natural-looking glow but I love that you can layer to what you’re comfortable with.
Should I want more, I can intensify my glow with additional layers so this really is a product that lends itself to all levels of tan expertise.
Lastly, I think what really sold me was the gorgeous scent of the gel - hints of camellia and frangipani (at least, that’s what I could smell).
This scent profile carries through the other three products and immediately puts my sensorial tanning fears to rest.
Big win!
3. DIOR Solar Sublimating Oil.
If I was to purchase a product on aesthetics alone, it would be The DIOR Sublimating Oil.
A clear bottle that showcases the gorgeous light-flecked liquid inside, this product looks like a holiday.
The product applies clear on the skin with a subtle dance of sparkle that’s not Euphoria-level but just enough to accentuate the key areas; think decolletage, arms, cheekbones.
Designed to enhance your tan, this product can be used on the face and body but also, hair.
We love a multi-use product!
I think about how I’m always pressed for space when packing my cosmetics for a trip and the fact that this product can give me a glow from literally head-to-toe makes this a non-negotiable on my upcoming trip back home to Indonesia.
4. DIOR Solar After Sun Balm.
In truth, while I did try this product, I must admit I didn’t experience the full benefit of The After-Sun Balm but such is the burden of residing in Melbourne where sunshine is a sporadic thing.
However, an hour long outdoor pilates class over the weekend did see me in the sun and slightly pink post-class despite a healthy application of SPF at the start.
A light application of the balm immediately cooled and calmed the skin, offering relief but also hydration due to the cream-light consistency.
The finish isn’t tacky, and instead leaves a satin-like sheen to the skin which is far more my preference than the OG aloe vera.
At a generous 150ml size, this product will also be coming with me on my next travels and should see me through the summer.
Note: Please always stay sun-safe! This means never forgetting to apply your SPF 50+ first (and always), seeking shade and an added luxurious after sun balm should you need can't hurt.
Final Thoughts...
It would be remiss of me not to mention the chicness of this DIOR Solar Collection, a gorgeous addition to any bathroom (or hotel) product line up.
In conclusion, this collection is a fantastic foray into the world of tanning for this bronzing beginner.
Easy application, streak-free finish, a non-offensive scent and the ability to layer should I want a deeper glow - there’s not much more you can ask for when it comes to at-home tanning.
As with anything from DIOR, these products are an investment but considering all the tanning horror stories out there, ones I’ll definitely be investing in.
Whether it be accentuating your next holiday glow, or faking it because you live in Melbourne and we are still awaiting the arrival of the sun, this DIOR Solar trio is there for you and all your golden goals.
