I recently chatted to Jo about her journey since she sold her eponymous brand Jo Malone London in 1999.
Jo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer only a few years after she sold the brand, and lost her sense of smell for time.
Once her sense of smell returned, she began contemplating her return to the fragrance world.
She told me, “Fragrance is my best friend… I missed it more than anything. I felt young enough to give it another go and too old to think of a whole new career.”
“Jo Loves was born around a kitchen table with my seven-year-old son, who came up with the name. He said, ‘Mum, call it Jo Loves because you love fragrance and fragrance loves you.’”

What Is Jo Loves?
Jo Loves is my favourite beauty launch of 2021.
Yep, I said it.
The Jo Loves London range includes a collection of ‘delightfully uncomplicated’ fragrances for the home and body.
Price-wise, Jo Loves 50ml fragrances sit at $129, 185g candles at $92 and the unique Jo Loves paintbrushes (more on those later) at $66.
So, it’s mid-range when compared to the rest of our luxury fragrance range at The Scent Room.
Is Jo Loves cruelty-free? You bet.
All Jo Loves products are proudly cruelty-free, and the majority of the range is vegan.

Like a bag of Maccas after a big night out, I’ve *literally* been inhaling every Jo Loves product in the range.
Here are my Jo Loves reviews on the four Jo Loves best seller I’m currently obsessed with.
1. Jo Loves Fig Trees Candle.
I burnt through this Jo Loves candle in mere weeks.
Every time I thought about burning something different to savour the candle, I was like “nah”.
Jo Loves Fig Trees A Home Candle 185g is addictive yet calming; like a big hug, perfectly capturing the scent of freshly picked figs.
Notes of cassis and amber each add sweetness and warmth, with cedar for a woody touch.
The scent is powerful, filling the entire room, which is what we want from our candles, with a burn time of 37.5 hours.

2. Jo by Jo Loves Paintbrush.
The idea for the Fragrance Paintbrush came to Jo when her husband gave her a challenge to change the way the world does fragrance.
She said, “When I’m creating fragrance, I have a paintbrush. I paint different notes. As I was doing it, I thought, ‘That’s it.’”
This innovative Jo Loves perfume brush features the fragrance suspended in a gel formula that dries in seconds.

It’s a fresh, citrus cocktail, combining grapefruit, bitter orange and lime with a hint of spearmint. Notes of guaiac wood, cedar and vetiver develop, adding a sophisticated twist.

3. Jo Loves Orange Butterflies.
They say fragrance can evoke memories and emotions.
For me, orange blossom is my kryptonite.
My mum bought me a bottle of Prada’s Les Infusions De Fleur D'Orange in my early 20s and, while I haven’t worn it for years, as soon as I spritzed Jo Loves Orange Butterflies, I was transported to that time of my life.
I don’t remember exactly what I was doing at the time… but it just lit me up!
I can’t be sure, but I think it was the first time I fell in love.
Jo Loves Orange Butterflies A Fragrance 50ml is sweet yet bitter, with notes of orange blossom, petigrain (oil extracts from bitter orange trees), mandarin and touch of neroli.
It’s an Eau de Toilette (EDT), meaning it doesn’t have the one spritz and you’re done longevity of an Eau de Parfum (EDP).
But when you think about how you can’t really smell fragrance on yourself, I don’t mind it because it means I get to enjoy the scent again when I reapply.
If I could bottle up the scent in a sentence, I would say “smells like the summer of love”, which is exactly why I’ll be wearing it all summer long.
