I’m not usually one to get too experimental with my hair care regime, but having used
Christophe Robin’s range before, I was confident this couldn’t go
too wrong.
Has anyone else used a
shampoo out of a tub? My first thought was
surely it was impractical to have such packaging in a shower, but it was surprisingly convenient.
Now, technically these aren’t traditional shampoos; one is a paste, another a scrub and then there’s a mask – but they all cleanse the hair, so they replace the need for your usual shampoo.

1. Volume: Cleansing Volumising Paste
Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumising Paste is a unique paste-to-foam formula that ain’t pretty, but boy does it give your hair volume. I accidentally used too much the first time, and it lathered up like crazy, so you only need to use a tiny amount of this product – it’ll last you ages.
Helps create significant volume from the roots
Absorbs impurities & oil from the scalp
Creates thickness & body through the lengths & ends
Doesn’t weigh down fine hair types
Made from natural rassoul clay, rose water & plant extracts
Va Va Voom
“A little bit goes a long way. I only use this once every other week for a deep clean and gives my flat and heavy hair some va va voom.”

3. No Poo: Cleansing Mask with Lemon
Compared to the other two, the
Christophe Robin Cleansing Mask with Lemon really doesn’t feel like a shampoo. It’s detergent-free and has an acidic pH level, so it doesn’t lather up as much as a regular shampoo. It takes a little getting used to, but it’s worth it.
Created for sensitive, highlighted and/or damaged hair
Gently cleanses while hydrating & maintaining your hair colour
Deeply nourishes the hair fibers to brighten & illuminate blonde shades
Contains lemon peel extracts, chamomile & St.John’s Wort
Has a low-lather formula which emulsifies as you add water
Treat your locks
“Awesome product to revitalise tired hair condition and perk up your colour. I use it on the roots and mid-lengths as directed, the longer you leave it the better, then I massage through the ends for the last couple of minutes. Repeating the process doesn't dry your hair out so don't be afraid! Any treatment or toner applied after takes beautifully...

My Verdict:
I really enjoyed all of these products – which genuinely surprised me. I’ve got shoulder-length coloured hair, which responded well to each of these cleansing shampoos. My hair is fine, and often looks flat so I loved the
Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumising Paste the most, as it gave me noticeable volume at the roots and added body.
I found the
Christophe Robin Cleansing Mask with Lemon was
really effective at soothing my sometimes irritated scalp, and my hair stayed looking freshly washed for days, while the
Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt 250ml left my scalp feeling refreshed, and my hair looking shiny. Oh, and the tubs weren’t an issue in the shower – I almost think they were easier to manoeuvre than a regular shampoo bottle!
