This Blonde Haircare Routine Legit Saved My Brassy Platinum Blonde Hair

I'm Adore Beauty's resident beauty newbie. Before working at Adore, I was travelling the world for 4 months with just one tiny tube of Jurlique moisturiser. I washed my face with warm water and used olive oil as a deep conditioning treatment. Oh, how things have changed!
Firstly, this story isn't about me.
It's actually about my sister Alice and a very excellent haircare routine for blonde hair. I'm simply the narrator.
Alice is one of three sisters. She's a beauty newbie, but like me, a total risk-taker. So much so, she dyed her hair from blonde to brown a few weeks before her wedding. Even I wouldn't do that.
Here we are.

Two out of three sisters (Alice and I, fun) were blessed with what we call Hagrid hair.
Hagrid hair is frizzy, unmanageable and generally hard to control. If it were a person, it'd be Mia Thermopolis before the makeover in The Princess Diaries.
So, when Alice dyed her hair platinum blonde a few years ago, she really struggled with brassiness. Exhibit A.

That's when I recommended she ditch the supermarket stuff and get onto the profesh products.
And as you'll soon see, it was a game-changer.

Alice's Pureology Haircare Routine for Blonde Hair

A fundamental truth Alice didn't know before going blonde is this:
Being platinum blonde requires full commitment. Even after you're not platinum blonde anymore.
Don't believe me? Take a look at what Alice's hair looked like not long after she dyed it back to brown from blonde.
(Don't worry, her hair looks great now - Alice trusts Pureology so she started using their range again to try and repair some of the damage. Looks good, eh?)

Now, back to the stuff about blonde hair care and the best shampoos for blondes.
This routine below would be perfect for anyone with blonde, dry and damaged hair. Targeting frizzy, dry and colour-damaged hair, keep scrolling to learn how you can keep your blonde hair bright and free from any nasty brass tones.
Now, let's break down each step and explain why these products are legit lifesavers.

Step 1: The Purple Shampoo for Blonde Hair

This is a highly, highly pigmented blonde shampoo, which is why it's a great choice for platinum blondes.
Here are a couple of before and after shots showing just how much this newly-repackaged shampoo can neutralise warmth, because no one has time for brassiness.
Amirite?

According to Pureology's ambassador Chad Wijayatilake, creamier blondes will only need to use these products for a few minutes each to see results, while platinum blondes can be a bit more hardcore.
"Leave the shampoo in for one to three minutes and rinse out. Then, leave the conditioner in your hair for one to three minutes and rinse out thoroughly," he says.
"For platinum blondes who can’t stand warm tones, shampoo twice and leave the product in your hair for five minutes, rinse out thoroughly. Leave the conditioner in for up to 15 minutes. You’ll get the coolest blonde you’ve ever had.”
Use these once a week to freshen up your hair and get rid of any brass tones. Honest, you'll feel like you've been to the hairdresser.

Step 2: The Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner

Fact: No matter how icy your blonde colour is, you still need to manage the frizzy dryness that comes with colour damage if you want a nice smooth finish.
Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo and Pureology Smooth Perfection Conditioner are specifically for frizzy, colour-treated hair. These will help to smooth, tame and hydrate, as well as prevent your colour fading from washing and heat damage thanks to its Anti-Fade Complex.
Oh, and it's got a gorgeous violet, clove and musk scent. Use these two when you're not washing your hair with the Pureology Strength Cure Blonde Shampoo.

Step 3: The Deep Hydration Mask

Next, if you've got super dry hair that's hard to style, add in a hair mask once a week.
This one softens and smooths hair - basically, it's like a big ol' drink of water for your hair. If you find a weekly mask isn't enough, try using this instead of conditioner every time you wash your hair.

Step 4: The Smoothing Heat Protectant for Blonde Hair

If you've made it to here, don't undo all your hard work by skipping the last step. This product smooths flyaways, helps with humidity and protects damaged hair from further damage (I'm looking at you, heat tools).
Already got damaged and frizzy hair? Using a heat protectant when styling is still important, but limiting the amount of heat you're using on your hair will help even more. One option is swapping to a tool designed to reduce heat damage.

But What About Alice's Results?

Drum roll please...

Here are the before and after images of Alice's hair from following this Pureology haircare routine, including the Strength Cure Blonde Shampoo. Seriously.
Sure, her hair could do with a brush but even straight out of the shower, you can see a pretty drastic difference in her colour.
And just in case you're sceptical, here's a screenshot of the text she sent me straight after she used it for the first time.

And that concludes this redemption tale of Alice's platinum blonde hair transformation.
God, I love a happy ending.
