We Review The New Kérastase Range That Promises to Recreate 99% of Hair’s Strength
I've been obsessed with beauty since I was little. At 5, I used to raid my mum's makeup drawers to sneakily apply red lipstick, only to have my dad make me take it off before I left the house. Frizz, breakage and dullness, oh my!
Since becoming a mum three and a half years ago, my hair has needed some extra TLC.
Between two little humans, running a household and working, I don’t have a lot of time to get to the hairdresser these days.
My secret? I like to invest in quality haircare hoping that it will tame and care for my tresses in between haircuts.
I’m always on the lookout for the newest haircare innovations, so when I saw both Sydney Sweeney and Emily Ratajkowski, two women with goddess-like hair, promoting the new Kerastase Première range that promised to restore hair to its premier state, my interest piqued.

What Is Kérastase Première?
If your hair is dull, rough or prone to breakage, you may be in the throes of a calcium overdose.
Confused? Don’t worry, I was too.
Whilst calcium is good for your bones, it’s not so great for your hair. Calcium accumulates with every wash, leading to a cycle of persistent damage.
The new dual-action Première range by Kérastase combines a powerful concentration of glycine and citric acid, designed to decalcify your hair and restore up to 99% of your hair’s original strength.
With continued use, hair breakage is reduced, and shine is amplified.
The full Kérastase Première range consists of six luxurious products:
- Used on damp hair, before shampooing to help maximise the efficiency of the shampoo.
- This lightweight serum applies to towel-dried hair easily.
- It’s recommended to leave it on for five minutes before moving on to the next step to ensure maximum effectiveness.
- It may feel counter-intuitive, but you apply your shampoo directly on top of the Pre-Shampoo treatment.
- Given your hair wasn’t soaking wet when you applied the pre-treatment, you may need to add a little bit of water when massaging in your shampoo.
- The first cleanse doesn’t lather too much, but once you’re onto your second wash (if you do a double cleanse like me), the lather is much more prominent and you’ll be surrounded by the lovely scent of the product.
- Apply after washing out your shampoo.
- Wring out any additional water in your hair and apply this lightweight conditioner to complete your in-shower routine.
- A perfect addition to your everything shower, or self-care Sunday routine.
- Apply on freshly shampooed hair, in place of your conditioner.
- Use once or twice a week to protect against breakage.
- My personal tip: I like to apply my hair mask in the morning, wear a slick bun with the product still in during the day, and wash it out at night.
- Protects against heat damage, breakage and frizz, leaving hair soft and smooth.
- Apply this on towel-dried hair before blow-drying or styling.

- This nourishing oil will help reduce split ends, protect against heat damage and above all improve shine.
- Apply on damp or dry hair.
- I tend to apply this on my styled hair to amplify shine, and further reduce frizz.
Enough about the details, let’s get to the review.
My Kérastase Première Review.
The scent. My goodness, it is delicious.
A perfect unisex fragrance that my husband appreciates seeing as I always catch him using my haircare. It’s a combination of citrus and woody notes, that is generous in its strength, allowing the scent to last post-styling.
After my first Première wash, my hair felt significantly softer.
I used the pre-shampoo for only three minutes (not the recommended five).
Unlike my skin (which rarely ever gets a double cleanse) I always wash my hair with shampoo, twice. After the three minutes had lapsed, I applied the shampoo directly onto my hair but found it to be too dry.
As I slowly added water to the mix, the product spread nicely and once I was onto my second wash, the lather was luxurious!
As soon as the conditioner went in, I could feel the difference in the softness. Typically my hair is prone to tangles, but I could tell it felt less knotty than it usually does.
Before blow drying, I applied the Anti-Frizz Serum and noticed that it helped smooth my notoriously tangled and frizzy hair. While I was drying my hair I definitely found that the frizz was less than usual and again my hair felt soft to the touch.
To finish my hair styling, I massaged the Shine Repair Oil through the lengths of my hair which really helped amplify the shine and definition of my locks.
Final Thoughts...
After using these products for the last few weeks, I can honestly say that I have noticed a significant improvement in the management of my hair.
Typically after I style my hair, once it’s slept on, I wake up looking a little like Hagrid. It goes frizzy, the previous style is forgotten and I essentially have to restyle it completely.
When using the Première range, I noticed that my hair didn’t tangle and frizz overnight, it remained smooth and soft.
For me, that alone is enough to get me to repurchase this range. The fact that it’s actually improving the quality of my hair, and strengthening it is an added bonus.
I would definitely recommend giving this new Kérastase range a go!
