The Brand My Hairdresser Used for My Most Complimented Blowout

Nikki is a writer, former makeup artist, and Communications Specialist at Adore Beauty. She kicked off her writing career at Fashion Journal, penning beauty articles and interviewing musicians she’d still name-drop seven years later. In 2023, she made a very big and bold career leap (writing about fashion instead of beauty). Now, she’s come full circle – but still loves to think outside the box.

A few weeks ago, I attended a wedding with some close friends and a Really Good Blowout, the kind that had basically become its own character, like New York in Sex and the City.
It was not my own doing, of course. For all my skill and tenacity, nothing I do can give my hair the same bounce a hairdresser can.
So I booked in with a local, highly recommended hair whiz, @by.yianni, and watched as he smoothed, shaped, and styled my hair using one of his favourite haircare brands, De Lorenzo.
A few days later, when I found out De Lorenzo was coming to Adore Beauty, I was expecting big things. I had already seen what the range could do in the hands of someone who actually knows what they are doing, and after that wedding blowout, my expectations were not exactly low.
Here is how the range measured up.

De Lorenzo Instant ACCENTU8 Volume Shampoo and Conditioner

What:
I have fine curly hair, and a lot of it. So when I opt for wearing it a little sleeker, à la Cindy Crawford circa 1992, I try to tick off the three Bs – body, bounce, brilliance.
The volumising shampoo & conditioner from the brand’s Accentu8 range seemed like a good place to start.
Made with an organic body-building formula, the Accentu8 Shampoo works to boost fine hair without weighing it down. To seal the big deal, the conditioner then coats each strand in a film to create the appearance of fuller hair.
The De Lorenzo shampoo and conditioner are both are packed with baobab seed protein – the hero ingredient in a lot of De Lorenzo’s products – which helps maintain the strength and integrity of your hair, along with seaweed and ginseng to revitalise the hair and scalp.
It’s the same duo Yianni used to create a smooth, lightweight foundation for my blowout.
While it’s hard for me to judge shampoo and conditioners based on their performance alone, I definitely felt the added fullness during the twenty or so minutes I spent procrastinating my blowdry, before I used any styling products. It would only be up from there.

De Lorenzo Instant Accentu8 Satur8 volume foam

I’m no stranger to mousses. I find it a little fun (rebellious, even) to use something once branded as too sticky, heavy, or greasy for fine hair. In 2026, the formulas have come a long way.
De Lorenzo’s Satur8 weightless foam is designed to hydrate, detangle, and add natural-looking volume while keeping your hair soft and manageable. It’s made with the same ingredients listed above, plus cucumber and aloe vera extracts to boost hydration.
Unlike other volumising mousses I’ve tried, this one added a lot of softness to my hair. There was noticeably less friction when I smoothed (yanked) my hair with a round brush, which made it easier to tell my bangs where to go, ‘cause we were on the same team for once.
It doesn’t have a crazy amount of hold, so it’s perfect if you just want a little extra lift.
I liked that it was an all-rounder (and so did my bathroom cupboards screaming for extra storage space).
If they made it in a mini version, I’d be jet-setting with it during Euro summer with limited baggage allowance but oversized hair.

De Lorenzo Elements Vapour Mist Medium Hold Hairspray

Yianni used the Elements Vapour Mist during my appointment to create a flexible hold and a polished finish, so I promptly plucked it from our office’s freshly-stocked beauty shelves to reacquaint myself.
Thanks to its weightless finish and non-tacky feel, this was probably the most non-hairspray hairspray I’ve ever used. Its lightweight formula allows the hair to be reshaped and restyled, so you’re never really locked in once you’ve sprayed it.
A blend of natural ingredients – namely lime fruit oil, rice starch, and rooibos & basil extracts – do the heavy lifting here, giving your hair that soft, touchable, airy finish.

Final Verdict...

All in all, I can’t say my hair reached its fullest potential – that’s why we book in with professionals who can work a round brush like no regular person can. But, it’s a fab at-home solution for a soft, sexy, regularly-complimented blowout that you can rely on, every time.
