Trying to achieve constantly glossy, shiny hair is practically half my personality at this point, right up there with hunting down the best mascaras for short lashes, full coverage and brightening concealers for dark circles, oh and my other passion - having a dewy base all year round.

I was actually late to the Colorwow dreamcoat bandwagon but after my hair went through a bout of dullness, I thought it was time to bring in the help of this popular hair gloss treatment made famous by Kim Kardashian’s famous hairdresser Chris Appleton who uses this product to create 'glassy hair' on his clients.
And it didn't disappoint.

I first tried this shine hair product while road-testing a bunch of haircare from vegan brand NAK who make ORI Lab (you can read more here), and as I said in that article, I took a selfie a day after using the serum oil hybrid and as you can see in the image above, my hair was still glistening in the sun!
This smoothing and shine-giving hair oil contains ingredients like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and aloe vera and can be used as both a finishing serum or worked through hair before styling.
This is a great hair gloss treatment for anyone who needs both shine and nourishment as well as a bit of frizz-control.

3. R+Co Waterfall Moisture + Shine Lotion.
R+Co actually have a couple of great products to help boost shine in the hair.
There’s the R+Co GEMSTONE Ultra Shine Glossing Treatment 147 mL a deeply hydrating hair treatment that provides intense shine and contains what's called 'ChromoHance Complex' that seals hair cuticles to pack in moisture and hydration to dry, damaged tresses.
It also includes vitamin C and E.
This one of best gloss hair treatments for those with super thirsty hair that also needs a shine boost.
I however, got my hands on a travel-sized or mini version of the R+Co Waterfall Moisture + Shine Lotion to try, and applied this on damp towel-dried hair.
Its cream texture felt nice to touch and it had a lovely smell too (as did most of these products).
It immediately slicks down unruly and frizzy hair.
This one is more light but still offers that intense hydration and it’s probably best for fine to medium hair.
Though it still managed to make my thick, knotty hair feel more manageable.
The shine was an added bonus but you prefer a creamy texture or lotion consistency this one is for you. It’s also $51 for 147mls which is pretty decent.

4. Davines OI Liquid Luster.
The Davines OI Liquid Luster promises to enhance softness, minimise frizz and I can definitely vouch for its lightweight feel and luxurious scent.
After drying and styling my hair, it looked super shiny and smelt UH-MAZING.
It also made my hair feel more swooshy and light which is the same experience I've had with other Davines hair products I’ve used in the past too.
The noticeable shine came through as soon as I blow-dried my hair, but like I said it’s the gorgeous (but strong) smell that lingered in my hair that I appreciated most.
The only very minute thing that I don't love about this one is that it’s not a leave-in, so because having to go back into the shower or sink to rinse out product from my long, thick hair isn’t ideal for me, I only left the treatment in for a minute or two.
I must say though, the added sheen on my hair did last til the next wash.

5. Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment.
I recently had the pleasure of trying a gloss hair treatment oil by bougie hair connoisseurs Oribe, and look I know $94 is quite the splurge, but if you did want to try it, here are my thoughts...

Firstly, look at this sleek packaging. The silky consistency leans towards an oil and feels beautiful to apply.
I noticed the glossy finish straight away after drying even before styling.
While using my hot tool to create waves, I could see the glossy shine instantly in the mirror.
My hair felt luxurious to touch afterwards too.
The best part? You only have to leave it on for a couple of minutes then rinse out. No waiting around for this impatient shower girl.
