As a Cherry Scent Lover, I Couldn't Wait to Try Juliette Has a Gun’s New Fragrance

I love cherries.
If you want to get really sentimental about it, cherries were my introduction to feeling beautiful.
My grandparents had a cherry tree in their garden; I would sit underneath and rub them on my lips for lipstick and hang them off my ears for jewellery.
I’m grown now and rubbing cherries on my face isn’t quite the option it used to be, but the scent is forever associated with being a cool, big girl.
I’m sure you’ve noticed that cherry fragrances are trending, which I’m personally very happy about.
I was even happier to learn that Juliette Has A Gun, the endlessly charismatic perfumery that calls Paris home, released their own.
Sometimes, the stars do align (that’s a little Shakespeare reference for you).
Anyway, enough about me. Meet Juliette.

What Is Juliette Has a Gun Juliette EDP?

Would it be too much of a cliche to say she’s everything?
Stylish, playful, not too floral, just the right amount of woody. More than anything, she’s a cherry scent for the daytime (but more on that later).
This elegant EDP remains playful enough to still feel youthful and sits perfectly as a transitional scent between ‘girlier’, fruitier EDPs and more ‘womanly’ gourmand ones.
Fragrance notes:
  • Head: Sour cherry and pink pepper
  • Heart: Jasmine
  • Base: Cashmeran and tonka bean
It’s the jasmine, I think, that really adds to the softness and airiness of the scent, allowing it to feel like it’s lifting you up and you’re gliding through the air with it.
Then, there’s the bottle.
Put the serious face away for a sec, let’s pop the words ‘silage’ and ‘olfactory’ aside, and admit to one another: the aesthetic is definitely part of the fun.
The shade of red of this translucent bottle, so rich, such a poised colour – I don’t know if I want to eat it or swim in it. Very beautiful and begging to be on display.
All Juliette Has A Gun perfumes are a blend of feisty and feminine, so I thought it was interesting that this one in particular was named after the Shakespearean heroine.
But one sniff made it all make sense: true to the name, Juliette really does feel like soft femininity brought into the modern world.
And what would Juliette do in 2024, I wonder?
Attend a dinner party with her friends! So, I wore her to a dinner party.

What does fluttering about the big city, wearing Juliette, actually feel like?
If I had to choose one downfall of a cherry scent, it would be that they’re often very sultry, very date night, very ooh la la.
Sometimes a girl just wants to wear perfume all day long without seeming like she’s trying to seduce you (or at least making you guess a little).
Well, Juliette is that scent.
This is by far the airiest cherry EDP I’ve spritzed, making it a perfect day-to-night transitional scent.
At first, I thought maybe it was wishful thinking. Had I become so desperate for a daytime cherry that I just decided this was the one?
So, I surveyed my colleagues. What else would an Adore Beauty staffer do?
Almost everyone mentioned it being a softer cherry than we’re used to, and at least two mentioned ‘daytime’ without me prompting them. Success!
Juliette was relegated to be my weekend scent. I wore her to after-work drinks, where she brought in lots of compliments, particularly on how the scent played on the skin.
I wore her to my morning appointment, as I was preparing my dinner party, and to the dinner party itself, of course.
Because this is a lighter scent, it didn’t sit as heavy and obvious on my skin as others can. But even well into the night, I would catch the aroma on my skin and instantly felt more cosmopolitan.
Playing with perfume can make your life feel more cinematic.
As I ran around Melbourne doing my errands, dressed up in a slinky trench coat and my bag Jane Birkin– overflowing with who knows what– Juliette’s dark cherry notes added to the passion of the day.
For someone who is trying to do it all and feel chic about it, bring Juliette with you, you won’t regret it.
