Ever wondered if your home has a distinct smell? Because I do. Perhaps a little too often.
To this day, certain people in my life have homes I'm instantly reminded of when encountering a familiar fragrance, like my parents and childhood friends, but my own? Not a clue.
That said, I live with a boy/my fiancé and a cat so I have a pretty good idea… Hence, my paranoia.
Since looking into the concept of ‘Scentscaping’ (how different scents can be strategically placed in spaces to provoke certain moods), I’ve been thinking more about fragrances, and the idea of a signature scent.
As someone who loves (needs*) routine and structure, it’ll probably come as no surprise to learn that I’m a serial monogamist when it comes to my relation-scent status.
I tend to wear the same fragrance for a while, and only really switch it up when the season or occasion calls for it.
Though, when it comes to matters of the heart (read: home), I’d definitely say my status is more scent-curious.
Which got me thinking, if I had to pick just one home fragrance to capture my entire being, what would it be?
Am I cool, calm and collected like a salty sea breeze, or more mysterious and grounded like earthy botanicals —what does my space say about me?
Mid-existential crisis, cue: the perfectly timed arrival of Scent Australia Home.

What Is Scent Australia Home?

You may recognise the fragrance house from its namesake sister company Scent Australia, the brand behind many household names' signature scents, including the likes of Country Road and Toyota.
News flash: They’ve just arrived at Adore, bringing with them an extensive range of home fragrances, from oils to diffusers, candles to room sprays.
In other words, I knew I was in good hands.
Keep scrolling as we unpack my personality and hopefully discover myself in fragrance form.

Scent Australia Santal 66 Room Spray.

What it says about me: She’s effortlessly cool and intriguingly mysterious. The kind of person who commands a room without even knowing it. She’s sophisticated yet down-to-earth, with an appreciation for the finer things but also a deep connection to simplicity.
Fragrance notes:
  • Head: Sandalwood and Virginia cedar.
  • Heart: Cardamom and violet.
  • Base: Papyrus, leather, amber and iris.
All I can (technically) say about this fragrance is if you know, you know.
This slightly sweet, slightly smokey scent captured my attention from the first spritz.
It’s bold but comforting, warm and inviting. I can imagine late nights spent with friends around the dinner table, red wine in hand. But is that the kind of message I want to send for my ‘personal brand’?
Maybe, maybe not.

Scent Australia Country Linen Room Spray.

What it says about me: She’s unbothered, moisturised, happy and in her lane. Her home is filled with clean lines, soft linens and native blooms. She loves life’s simple pleasures and brings a sense of calm with her, wherever she goes. A true tastemaker, she’s always on the lookout for things that bring a little luxury to her life.
Fragrance notes:
  • Head: Lemon, peach, lily, rose and jasmine.
  • Heart: Linen, oakmoss, vetiver, cedar and sandalwood.
  • Base: Honey and tonka bean.
This may or may not be the signature scent of a popular womenswear retailer kinda by the same name.
Elegant, refined and grown-up, the kind of fragrance you’d expect in the home of someone who has their sh*t together – now that’s not a bad shout for the personal brand.
But am I – a twenty-something girl who still sends her tax returns to her mum to complete – classified as someone who has their sh*t together? That is the question.

Scent Australia Jardin de Carthage.

What it says about me: She’s classy and elegant, with a magnetic energy that draws people in. She loves to immerse herself in art, history and culture, and her home is brimming with beautifully curated items that tell a story. When she's not wandering art galleries, she's likely hosting intimate dinner parties at home.
Fragrance notes:
  • Head: Bergamot and orange blossom.
  • Heart: Rose, peony and jasmine.
  • Base: Cedar, amber and musk.
Now this one was a complete curve ball with a scent profile unlike anything I’d typically go for. Sweet and soft, yet surprisingly delightful.
I can’t decide if I like this for me, or if I like it because it just feels like a warm hug.
Kind of like the time I picked Burberry Burberry Her Elixir EDP as my favourite fragrance from the luxury house’s collection at Adore. I love the way it makes me feel, like a more put-together, carefree me.

Final Verdict.

After spritzing these scented room sprays for the last week or so while pondering the meaning of life, I have finally come to a conclusion. And here it is:
Each of these fragrances is distinct from the next, representing the different parts of my personality. The kind and nurturing, but also the silly and sophisticated.
Maybe it’s okay to have more than one signature scent. Perhaps we can have two or three or even four. We’re forever evolving beings, so it stands to reason that our noses will change too.
That said, if I had to pick just one favourite – don’t make me do it, I love them all equally (!!) – I’d have to go with Santal 66.
It’s the perfect fragrance to encapsulate all that I am. Bold and outspoken, yes, but also warm and gracious–at least that's what I aim to be.
At worst, I'm manifesting this for myself.
