Here’s some beauty eras I’m currently in:
My red lip era, my serum foundation era and my niche fragrance era which has kind of led me to my ‘revisiting Aesop’ era.
As a beauty editor, I’m always in some sort of temporary beauty era as we are often tasked with road-testing and reviewing different products.
And admittedly, although I work in marketing, even I occasionally get lured in (influenced) by beautiful packaging and spa-like smells that instantly conjure a relaxing, sensorial experience.
That’s something Aesop products do very well - (smell luxe) but also summon a peaceful, spa-like moment into your home and onto your body.
Whether that comes in the form of an incense stick that’s made in Kyoto, Japan (how cool?) or some ‘Post-Poo’ drops that help mask any odors after ‘vigorous activity’ in the bathroom.
So in the last couple of months I’ve added three Aesop products to cart based purely on smell (and making my tiny Sydney bathroom look cooler).

1. Aesop Eidesis Eau de Parfum.

Fast facts:
Notes:
Top: Petitgrain, Black Pepper, Frankincense.
Middle notes: Cumin, Cedar, Frankincense.
Base notes: Sandalwood, Cedar, Vetiver.
  • Considered a warm and earthy scent that develops into a 'deep spice, damp earth and dry woods'.
My mini Aesop Eidesis Eau de Parfum review:
I often talk about how much I love Aesop Marrakech; I first sniffed the spicy and kind of enigmatic unisex scent in my cousin’s room and instantly fell in love with it.
It’s a very “Sadaf” smell (I would even say it’s my top Aesop fragrance pick), however it has a little too much bite for everyday wear.
I was on the hunt for something that equally captures that typical Aesop spa-like scent, with slightly less intensity.
For me that is Aesop Eidesis. It's just as earthy, herbaceous and smells like an expensive spa.
The same cousin who owns Marrakech always compliments me on it when I have it on, so that's how I know it’s the right pick.
I've been spritzing (more accurately, dousing myself in it) everyday, and its uplifting smell always makes me feel super fresh and amazing.

2. Aesop Kagerou Aromatique Incense.

Fast facts:
  • A luxe home fragrance that comes with with a tiny Kanuma Pumic disk to hold your Aesop incense stick.
  • Is made in Kyoto, Japan using traditional blending techniques.
  • Each stick lasts about 30mins.
  • Notes: vetiver, sandalwood and igusa.
  • $45 for 33 sticks.
My mini Aesop Kagerou Aromatique Incense review:
Ok I have mixed reviews about this one.
I love notes of sandalwood and vetiver so it made sense that I initially graviated towards Kagerou.
On first sniff (before lit)- beaut.
However, after about fifteen minutes of burn time, I did find the scent a little overpowering for a small space like my bathroom
What I did love though, was that after the stick burnt out, the smoky woody smell lingered in a softer, more grounding intensity for hours in the bathroom, so every time I would walk in, it smelled like I just walked into the waiting room of a spa.
I’m curious about purchasing the other scents in the range too, but next time I’ll place it in the middle of the living room where it has more space to spread its wings and permeate in a larger area.
I also think this would make a great gift! Though small, its artful design still makes it a special homewares piece.

3. Aesop Post-Poo Drops.

Fast facts:
  • An aromatic botanical bathroom deodoriser with notes of tangerine, ylang ylang and mandarin.
  • Comes in Aesop's discreet and cool packaging.
  • Roughly 450 uses from the 100ml bottle.
  • How to use Aesop Post-Poo Drops? Simply add five drops s into the toilet bowl after flushing, to the "benefit of subsequent visitors."
  • Is Australian-made and cruelty-free.
My mini Aesop Post-Poo Drops review:
I always wonder if these novelty products actually work and have been curious about the popular Aesop Post-Poo Drops drops to see if they were actually worth the hype.
So here's the tea: I took it with me to an overnight stay and can happily confirm that yes, they work.
There was definitely masking of unpleasant smells thanks to the wonderful accord of citrus and floral notes.
I mean it has over one HUNDRED five-star reviews so I shouldn't have doubted its 'vigourous bathroom activity' masking powers.
Here's just one for you:
"Essential toilet saviour."
"On my bathroom essentials list...up there with toothpaste and toilet paper! Amazing scent. You only need a couple of drops per use, so this bottle lasts for months. I will never use horrible, cheap smelling aerosols anymore. Does the job better than anything else I have ever tried! Highly recommend." - Jus.
Another little tip: I was actually told by someone who works at Aesop that you can even dispense a few drops in your drains and sinks for a fresh and fragrant bathoom and kitchen!

And yes, I have my eyes on even more from the Aesop range, stay tuned!
