This Pore Blurring Primer Is Like an Instagram Filter In a Tub

I'm Adore Beauty's resident beauty newbie. Before working at Adore, I was travelling the world for 4 months with just one tiny tube of Jurlique moisturiser. I washed my face with warm water and used olive oil as a deep conditioning treatment. Oh, how things have changed!

Let’s clear up one of the biggest myths about pores: no matter how much you might try, you cannot shrink the size of your pores.
That’s why products can only claim to “reduce the appearance of pores”... because, well, that’s all they can really do.
Luckily, for oily skin gals like me, there are very effective products that really will reduce the appearance of your pores.
Here are some of my favourites:
And now I have one more product to add to my list: Huda Beauty’s GloWish Pore Jam primer.

What is Huda Beauty GloWish Pore Jam Primer?

My pores are the kind of pores you don’t want to examine in a magnifying mirror.
When I study my forehead too closely, it kind of looks like the moon, full of miniature craters.
It doesn’t bother me day-to-day, but when I’m doing my makeup, I like to smooth them out as much as possible to achieve that flawless makeup finish.
Here’s what you need to know about this Huda Beauty blur jam primer:
  • A smoothing, mattifying and breathable primer.
  • This Huda beauty primer is 100% silicone-free, which is great for people that don’t like silicone primers.
  • Formulated to last, with 12-hour pore-blurring power.
  • Huda Beauty blur jam primer is strawberry-coloured but will blend clear on all skin tones. It really does look like jam!
  • The Huda Beauty Glowish primer is vegan-friendly, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, alcohol-free and suitable for all skin types.
It also contains skin-loving ingredients for all-day hydration and to protect the skin’s barrier:
  • Damascus rose water: soothes, clarifies and locks in moisture
  • Prickly pear: a rich source of antioxidants
  • Cactus flower: hydrates, calms, soothes and supports the skin’s barrier

How I Use Huda Beauty Pore Jam In My Makeup Routine.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CK5hbhoD8zQ/ (this isn’t the Huda beauty pore jam, but the makeup artist mentioned below used the stretching out the skin technique here)
If you’ve got visible pores and you want to get a flawless finish with your makeup, here are the steps I recommend following to get the best results from the Huda Beauty Pore Jam:
  • Start with a glowy gel moisturiser, like Hada Labo Intense Hydrating Skin-Plumping Gel 50ml. This will intensely hydrate the skin in preparation for the mattifying effects of the makeup we’re going to be using.
  • Stretch out the skin and really work the Huda Beauty Pore Jam into the areas where you get a lot of oil production. I picked up this technique from a makeup artist. I use the Pore Jam on the forehead, nose, upper cheeks and chin. These are the areas where my pores are most prominent.
  • Choose a medium-to-full coverage mattifying foundation. I don’t find light coverage foundations as effective at smoothing out the appearance of pores. As mentioned, my top pick is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup Foundation foundation to achieve a flawless finish.
  • Use a pore-blurring powder like IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Loose Powder - Translucent 6.8g on the same areas you used the Huda Beauty Pore Jam.

Whenever I receive a new product to trial, I always put a little bit on the back of my hand.
As soon as I worked the Huda Beauty Pore Jam into the back of my hand, I could visibly see the blurring effect.
This Huda Beauty face primer has got a really nice texture too; it’s silky smooth and you can feel it’s breathable.
I also like the fact this blurring primer is silicone-free.
I’ve always assumed if you want a good blurring primer, you need to use one with silicone in it, but this is a great option for those wanting to go silicone-free.
This would work well for any skin type, especially if you have oily skin due to its mattifying finish.
The only caveat is that you need to have realistic expectations with pore-blurring products
Your pores won’t completely disappear!
But by using the right products, you’ll be able to achieve the (almost!) flawless finish of an Instagram filter.
